How long have you been teaching at IE Law School? And what brought you here?

13 years.  It was its prestige as a graduate Law School that drew me to apply.


What defines IE Law School? What is unique about it?

It is the most dynamic institution in higher education.


What is your daily routine as a professor?

My day is usually spent in teaching, reading and writing.

LLM (European Union Law & Introduction to Civil Law)


How do you support young lawyers at IE Law School?

Young lawyers that are not students, but alumni, frequently ask me for advice.


What quallifications / prior knowledge do you require students to have in order to study at IE Law School (i.e. admission requirements but also soft skills)?

I do not participate in the admission requirements of the institution.


What do you value most about working at IE Law School?

Its constant search for excellence.


What do you do in your leisure time?

I spend it with my family.

You are planning a law-free weekend on a desert island and you are only allowed to take three things with you. What would they be?

Physical needs covered, I would take three books: The Bible, Cervantes‘s Quijote and Virgil’s Aeneid.

Focus on the long-term.
