LL.M. in American Law for Foreign Lawyers Tracks

Students seeking the LL.M. in American Law for Foreign Lawyers degree program have the opportunity to choose an area of focus to concentrate their legal studies on while at SLU LAW. While the tracks are not mandatory, they are designed specifically for the LL.M. in American Law for Foreign Lawyers degree program and are advised in cooperation with the program director.

Practical relevance

Experiential legal education is an active method of teaching that integrates theory and practice by combining academic inquiry with actual experience. SLU LAW offers multiple in-house clinics, numerous field placement opportunities (i.e., externships), and a variety of simulation courses.

Student profile

Saint Louis University School of Law offers our LL.M. in American Law for Foreign Lawyers degree program and our Two-Year J.D. Program for Foreign Lawyers for lawyers holding a law degree from a university or law school outside of the United States. These programs provide a select group of highly qualified individuals with the opportunity to pursue studies and research with an American law, comparative and/or international law focus.

Average starting salary

The average starting salary for J.D. graduates in the private sector in 2018 was $79,157 and for the public sector was $55,506.

Semesters and Semester

We have two official semesters in the academic year, fall and summer. Our fall classes start mid-August and end in December. Our spring semester starts in January and ends in May. Students are also able to take summer courses from the end of May to the first week of July.
