Welcome home, Welcome to Essex

Essex is a truly international institution with a long history of welcoming students from around the world. With us, you're not just a student, you're a member. Essex introduces you to people from all over the planet. We are a global community that lives, works and plays together. You study an internationally relevant curriculum, become part of our diverse community, and are taught by academics whose research has global impact. We give you the best chance to compete in a global economy. Essex is ranked 13th for Law in THE World Univerisyt Ranking (2021).

We currently have more than 70 German students studying with us here at Essex. We have a very international outlook with more than a third of our students coming from outside of the UK with over 135 nationalities represented.

The Essex Law Clinic offers you the opportunity to integrate theory with practical experience and draw together different strands of your studies. It prepares you to deal with the cutting edge of legal practice. This means not only individual cases but also working on finding solutions to current problems such as how information technology can be used to improve access to justice. Or join our Human Rights Centre Clinic, one of the oldest academic Human Rights Centres in the world and enables  students to apply their human rights knowledge to practical situations and further develop their professional skills, working in partnership with civil society organisations, international organisations, governments and national human rights institutions.
