The University of San Diego School of Law is recognized for its excellent faculty, depth of curriculum, and strength of clinical programs.

Each year, USD educates approximately 800 Juris Doctor and graduate students. The law school is best known for its offerings in business and corporate law, constitutional law, intellectual property, international and comparative law, public interest, and taxation.

USD School of Law is one of 84 law schools elected to the Order of the Coif. The school is accredited by the American Bar Association. Founded in 1954, the law school is part of the University of San Diego, a private, Roman Catholic university chartered in 1949.

Student profile

We seek to attract a diverse group of students who come from various legal systems, including Civil Law, Common Law, Islamic Law, and blended traditions. The ideal entering class contains a healthy mix of recent law graduates, experienced attorneys, government officials, court personnel, academics, and other professionals. The main admissions goal is to attract students who are academically strong, intellectually curious, and able to face challenges with a smile. Students are encouraged to collaborate with classmates and interact with our extremely accessible faculty.

We offer rolling admissions and applications are accepted year-round. However, for priority scholarship consideration, Fall applicants should apply by June 1st and Spring applicants should apply by November 1st.

There are over 40 law students clubs and organziations that represent a wide variety of interests. Almost all of them are open to LLM students.
